According to the U.S. Travel Association’s Social Media Report, 52 percent of travelers who use social media to research their vacation plans found it “easy” or “very easy” to decide where to go and book a vacation online.

The most relied upon source of destination information for online travel planning was TripAdvisor, followed by Fodors and Orbitz. TripAdvisor was the site that 82 percent of U.S. travelers said they relied on to help them make their travel plans.

Nearly 83 percent said they would always use social media in planning a trip, and 75 percent would continue using social media while on vacation.

76 percent said they check out a destination’s social media presence, 80 percent found destination information on social media, and 93 percent found travel information on social media.
